I like this piece because you captured the character of your subject very well. The roughness of the paper actually adds great texture to the bird's body, as well as to the tree branch, so I think it actually works in your favour
There are only 2 things I would fix. First, the little legs are a bid distracting. Maybe it's because they have a lot of detail compared to the rest of the body, or just because they're darker. This can easily be adjusted. Also, I think you could have fun experimenting more with finer marker to make individual feathers, if you're going for more realism.
